Our excursion began with the Burberry Boutique located in NorthPark mall in Dallas, Texas.
We took the tour with a store employee named Alex who provided us with answers to all questions we requested.
Seeing as the current season is now moving into Spring/Summer, that is what the store had migrated to. Our primary questions were simple and easily answered.
When did Burberry begin using the TB logo?
The TB logo was introduced recently in 2019. Has become very iconic since its inception and has inspired various new designs.
Most Famous/Popular items sold?
Trench coats and Check Scarfs – Burberry is one of the original manufacturers of the trench coat styling.
My Personal observations:
Burberry uses very elegant designs and leather products such as their handbags and other accessories. Icon Designs typically at center with gold hardware tones.
Use a variety of different types of fabrics for their handbags and their clothing lines. Jackets seem to be a type of fleece fabric with the classic check pattern. As well uses of different geometric and standard solid designs.
The reusable masks, which are made in Italy, also provide particle filtration efficiency (PFE) and are enhanced with antimicrobial technology which protects the product from microbes and germs. The outer and inner lining are made from 100 percent cotton and the filling from 100 percent polyester. Each mask also comes with its own matching travel pouch, which is also treated with antimicrobial technology.
Twenty percent of each sale will go towards the Burberry Foundation Covid-19 Community Fund, operated by The Burberry Foundation, to help communities affected by the pandemic as well as those working on the frontline. Established in April, the fund has so far donated 160,000 pieces of personal protective equipment (PPE) gear, and has helped relief efforts in Asia, Europe, the Americas and Africa.
Many brands and retailers have launched their own face masks since the outbreak of the pandemic, though the luxury industry has been noticeably hesitant to jump on the trend, perhaps due to concerns that doing so could be interpreted as a move to profit on the crisis.
But as the world continues to battle the pandemic and a return to normality seems an increasingly vague concept, itโs likely that more luxury labels will follow suits and begin producing their own high-end facewear.
Dior and ERL took over a few blocks in the heart of Venice Beach for a co-branded runway show. Dior has the resources to create hermetically sealed, cinematic runway universes practically anywhere, like when they built a Looney Tunes desert in Parisโcomplete with cactiโfor the houseโs collaboration with Travis Scott last year.
In Venice, Windward Avenue asphalt was painted bright blue. But curious neighbors on nearby rooftops watched SoCal legends like Tony Hawk walk in, and local taquerias and vintage stores framed the runway (or, erm, street). At one point during the show, a water balloon fell from the heavens and splattered a few feet from the VIP section where Jaden Smith and Kevin Abstract were sitting.
The collection is not a collaboration, exactly. Dior Menโs artistic director Kim Jones has done plenty of those, working with artists like Raymond Pettibon, Amaoko Baofo, and Peter Doig to turn their work into patterns and prints for his couture-level garments. Heโs also designed collections with the help of streetwear savants like Shawn Stรผssy and Travis Scott.
For the spring โ23 capsule, Jones wanted to try a slightly different approach. โI thought, I’d like to give someone that I think is talented an opportunity to go to the archives and work with it,โ he said before the show. So he recruited Linnetz to โguest designโ the capsule.
